A fake ad for EA and Battlefield Studios’ upcoming first-person shooter, Battlefield 6, is attempting to steal Steam accounts.
Reddit user qwertyfish99 has reported that the social news aggregation and discussion platform is hosting a fake ad featuring Battlefield 6 that is attempting to steal the Steam accounts of those who interact with it. Our readers are advised to be careful and not fall prey to the phishing scam.

As seen in the image above, the ad’s URL is a link to a fake domain for battlefield, ‘6-battlefield.com’. It claims to invite people to join the Battlefield 6 playtest, but instead leads to ‘store.steampowered.joinedplaytest.com’ in an attempt to steal the individual’s Steam accounts via phishing. As such, it’s important to always take a look at the base domain for anything odd. In an effort to lure people, he ad also claims that this version of the playtest will feature a “new battle royale mode.”
As for why Reddit is allowing such ads to be hosted on its social news aggregation and discussion platform is unclear. It may be an honest mistake, in which case the management is requested to take quick notice and do away with such phishing scams.
In related news, 9 minutes of gameplay footage from the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale map were recently leaked by bilibili user Misako_Mikato_01. The footage confirmed that the mode will feature a large-scale map, the ability to swim and go underwater, and a ladder gadget that appears to have two modes i.e. ramp and ladder. The map looked to be in an unfinished state in the above footage. It appeared massive in terms of scale, but also somewhat empty. Much like in other Battle Royale games, there will undoubtedly be several points of interest on Battlefield 6’s Battle Royale map. The key here differentiator is that the buildings and environments here are largely destructible.
