A new Fallout 4 Switch 2 graphics comparison has revealed notable differences between Nintendo’s latest hardware and the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game. The analysis outlines how Bethesda has configured performance modes on Switch 2, highlighting variations in resolution and visual settings across the available options.
Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition launched digitally for Nintendo Switch 2 on February 24, 2026. The release marks the first time a mainline Fallout title has appeared on a Nintendo platform. This edition includes the base game, all six official downloadable expansions such as Far Harbor and Nuka World, and more than 150 pieces of Creation Club content integrated directly into the package. The total file size is 60.8GB. A physical code-in-box version is scheduled to follow on April 28.
From a technical standpoint, the Switch 2 version offers three distinct graphics modes. The 30fps mode renders at 1440p and features a higher level of detail compared to the other performance options. The 60fps mode operates at dynamic 1080p and uses lower graphical settings, described as similar to the PlayStation 4 configuration. The 40fps mode, which is available only at 12hz, applies a configuration closer to the 30fps mode but reduces resolution to 1080p.
These distinctions place the 60fps setting closer to the visual baseline established by the previous generation console version, while the 30fps mode prioritizes image clarity and environmental detail. The 40fps option appears to offer a compromise between the two, though its refresh rate limitation may affect accessibility depending on display compatibility.
The comparison highlights how Bethesda has adapted Fallout 4 for the Switch 2 hardware, balancing resolution and frame rate targets across various modes. Although the game is nearly a decade old, the updated Anniversary Edition showcases a range of technical configurations that set it apart from its PlayStation counterparts.
