Fallout creator Tim Cain is back at Obsidian Entertainment in full-time capacity, and he’s currently working on a project “you’re not going to guess.”
Tim Cain, creator of the Fallout series, has officially returned to Obsidian Entertainment as a full-time, in-person employee, and he’s already teasing a mysterious new project that he insists fans will not be able to predict. In a recent video on his YouTube channel, he walked his audience through major life changes, from moving states to rejoining the studio where he previously worked on several role-playing games.
Cain opened the video by mentioning that he recently moved back to Southern California after years in Seattle, and is now working in full-time capacity at Obsidian Entertainment. “I’m back at Obsidian. I’m their full-time employee and in person,” he said. “I’m not a contractor anymore,” Cain said. Although he said that at least one non-Obsidian project he previously contributed to will still ship, he made it clear that his focus is now fully on the studio. When it comes to his new role, though, Cain remained tight-lipped. “I also can’t talk about the project I’m working on,” he said. “Don’t bother guessing. You’re not going to guess right.”
Cain may well be working on a new Fallout game. Back in July, VGC’s Jordan Middler claimed that there are multiple Fallout projects in development, including, as far he’s aware, the one fans are wanting. However, he mentioned that it’s not far enough in development for him say that people will be playing it anytime soon. Later in the discussion, he said, “Anyway, New Vegas 2 coming soon.” He argued that Microsoft should’ve immediately had work started on Fallout 5 after acquiring Bethesda Game Studios.
Its a no-brainer for Bethesda Softworks to capitalize on the success of the Fallout TV show. Remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are rumored to be in development.
