Far Cry 3, Blood Dragon, and Primal Get 60 FPS Update

by Greg Martin

Ubisoft has released a free performance update for Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal, adding full 60 FPS support on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The update is available now and applies automatically to all digital owners on supported platforms.

With this release, every mainline Far Cry title from Far Cry 3 onward now runs at 60 FPS on current-generation consoles. Ubisoft says the update takes advantage of newer hardware to deliver smoother gameplay and improved responsiveness, giving the three titles a more modern feel as the franchise approaches its 22nd anniversary in March 2026.

Far Cry 3 sees improved fluidity across exploration, stealth, and combat as players return to Rook Island to face off against Vaas Montenegro. Blood Dragon benefits from more responsive gunplay and traversal, enhancing the fast-paced, neon-styled experience inspired by 1980s action films. Far Cry Primal also receives a noticeable upgrade, with smoother movement, more precise aiming, and more consistent combat as players navigate the prehistoric land of Oros.

To mark the launch of the update, Ubisoft has confirmed limited-time discounts on the PlayStation Store running from January 21 through February 4. Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is available at 60 percent off, while Far Cry 3 and Far Cry Primal Apex Edition are both discounted by 75 percent.

All three titles are also included at no additional cost for subscribers to Ubisoft Plus, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, making the updated versions accessible across multiple services on current-generation hardware.
