SNK has officially revealed the Season 2 character lineup for Fatal Fury City of the Wolves, confirming a structured release schedule that will add six new fighters to the roster between January and June. The information surfaced through an interview published by GameSpark, which appears to have gone live earlier than expected and provided extensive insight directly from the development team. The season will introduce one character per month, marking a notable shift in pacing for post launch content.
According to the revealed schedule, Kim Jae Hoon will arrive in January, followed by Nightmare Geese in February and Blue Mary in March. April will see the addition of Wolfgang Krauser, a long-rumored character whose return has been widely anticipated by fans. Two additional characters are planned for May and June, though both remain unannounced at this time. This cadence confirms that Season 2 will focus on steady, predictable updates rather than staggered content drops.
The interview features Shinya Tamaki, Senior Manager of Game Design and Producer on the title, alongside Hayato Kondo, Game Design Director. Kondo explained the background of the newly announced fighters, stating, “Kim Jae Hoon is the younger brother of the currently playable Kim Dong Hwan and the son of Kim Kaphwan. He’s a young man searching for his own definition of justice.” He also clarified the approach taken with Nightmare Geese, noting that the character appears as a nightmare because he is deceased in the current timeline.
Discussing Blue Mary, Kondo said, “She is an agent who frequently appears in The King of Fighters series; her grandfather was also killed by Geese. She has already appeared in this title during Kevin’s demo scenes.” On Krauser, he added, “Wolfgang Krauser was the boss character of Fatal Fury 2. He is a villain on par with—or perhaps even greater than—Geese.”
The developers also addressed the decision to release one character per month. Tamaki stated, “In Season 2, we will be adding one character per month. This is because this title is the first new entry in 26 years, and after launch, we received many requests from fans wanting to see certain characters sooner.” He added that the team strengthened its development structure to support the faster pace.
Additional discussion covered balance updates, Training Mode improvements, and online stability. Tamaki confirmed, “With monthly updates, we will deliver as many elements as we can,” emphasizing a commitment to rapid iteration based on player feedback. When asked about the unannounced characters, Tamaki said, “I can’t say yet (laughs). However, it is a character that will meet expectations.”
Fatal Fury City of the Wolves launched on April 24, 2025, marking the franchise’s first mainline entry in over 26 years. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and Season 2 represents one of SNK’s most ambitious post-launch initiatives to date.
