Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Gets PS5 Pro Patch, Check Out New Versatility Mode In Action

The PS5 Pro patch for Square Enix’s action role-playing game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is now live on PlayStation Network.

The update brings a new Versatility option to the Graphics optimization setting in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the PS5 Pro. It takes advantage of the mid-gen console’s AI upscaling feature i.e. PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), to deliver much crisper and cleaner image quality in the game.

The video above compares the new Versatility option added in the latest Final Fantasy VII Rebirth patch for the PS5 Pro with the other three options already available i.e. Graphics, Performance – Sharp, and Performance – Smooth. Comparing image quality across all settings shows just how much better the game looks in its new Versatility mode.

The aforementioned update 1.050 for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth primarily focuses on improving game stability and performance while introducing Versatility mode for PlayStation 5 Pro players. The patch addresses various bugs and refines in-game functionality to ensure smoother gameplay across platforms.

Meanwhile, PS5 Pro gameplay footage for a number of titles, including Demon’s Souls, Monster Hunter Wilds, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and The Last of Us Part 2 can be seen here. It’s worth noting that some of these games, such as Monster Hunter Wilds, have yet to receive an official patch to support the mid-gen console.

The PS5 Pro is shaping up to be a pretty feature-rich console. Recently, it was revealed that the mid-gen console features a new setting to improve image quality for PS4 titles. The new toggle, called “Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games,” is said to improve the visual quality of some PS4 titles, but may cause issues in certain games and can be disabled if required. It likely uses an upscaling method that doesn’t improve frame rates but could make lower-resolution PS4 games appear sharper on modern displays.
