Two of the biggest PlayStation 5 exclusives may not remain tied to Sony’s platform for much longer. According to well-known industry insider NateTheHate, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is expected to make its way to Switch 2 and Xbox Series consoles in 2026, while Konami’s Silent Hill 2 Remake could expand to other platforms once its timed exclusivity ends in October.

Speaking on social media, NateTheHate claimed that Square Enix plans to bring Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to both Xbox Series S|X and Nintendo Switch 2. On Switch 2, the game will reportedly leverage DLSS technology, which has been demonstrated with titles like Star Wars Outlaws to provide strong performance through advanced upscaling. Meanwhile, Xbox owners may see the game as soon as next year. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is scheduled for Switch 2 in Winter 2025, though a specific release date has not yet been confirmed and may be announced at the next Nintendo Direct.

As for Silent Hill 2 Remake, the insider clarified that announcements regarding additional platforms cannot be made until Sony’s exclusivity deal expires. “Any announcement cannot be made until the exclusive deal with Sony expires in October,” Nate explained when asked about the possibility of the game coming to Xbox. Developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami, the survival horror title released for PS5 and PC in October 2024 to positive reviews, praised for its atmosphere, visuals, and music. While a Switch 2 port remains uncertain due to performance issues with Unreal Engine 5 on the hardware, an Xbox release seems more likely once contractual obligations are fulfilled.

Beyond these two major titles, Nate also reiterated the existence of a Dragon Quest VII remake, although he did not provide details on when Square Enix plans to reveal it.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth originally launched on PlayStation 5 in February 2024 and later on PC in January 2025. The game, the second chapter in Square Enix’s ambitious remake trilogy, continues the story of Cloud Strife and his allies as they battle Shinra and Sephiroth across a reimagined world. It received widespread acclaim and secured multiple year-end awards, solidifying its status as one of the standout releases of this console generation.

Meanwhile, Silent Hill 2 Remake marked the long-awaited return of Konami’s iconic horror series, with Bloober Team’s version staying faithful to the 2001 original while introducing modern visuals and mechanics. The game quickly sold over two million copies, proving that interest in the franchise remains strong.

If the insider’s claims hold true, both Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Silent Hill 2 Remake may soon reach a wider audience, extending their lifespans beyond Sony’s ecosystem. For now, however, fans will need to wait for official announcements from Square Enix and Konami.
