Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Switch 2 File Size Revealed, Optimized To Take Far Less Space Than PS5 & PC Versions

The file size of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Square Enix’s action role-playing game, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, has been revealed.

The official Japanese web portal for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has confirmed (via Genki_JPN on Twitter/X) the file size of the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth several months ahead of its launch on June 3, 2026, revealing that the upcoming version will take much less storage space than the PS5 and PC versions.

The file size of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can be seen below.

In comparison to the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the PS5 version’s file size is 145.25 GB, while the PC version comes in at an even larger 155 GB. The game’s director Naoki Hamaguchi recently revealed that optimizing for Steam Deck helped the development team reduce the file size of the Switch 2 port by around two-thirds. “We’re using what we learned from optimizing for the Steam Deck to improve the Switch 2 version as well, including reducing the overall data size.”

Square Enix announced the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth during the recent Nintendo Direct. Players who pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive several in-game bonuses, including multiple Summoning Materia, armor pieces, and accessories, alongside the standard Digital Deluxe content such as a digital artbook and mini soundtrack. Physical pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version will include a Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Zack Fair card featuring variant artwork, while supplies last. This version will also include the Streamlined Progression feature, which offers options such as unlimited HP and MP, always-filled ATB and limit gauges, increased damage values, and faster weapon ability acquisition to allow players to focus more on the story and combat flow.
