Back in September, 2026, the same insider first claimed that Square Enix plans to bring Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to both Xbox Series S|X and Nintendo Switch 2. On Switch 2, the game will reportedly leverage DLSS technology, which has been demonstrated with titles like Star Wars Outlaws to provide strong performance through advanced upscaling.

Earlier, during a special Creator’s Voice feature on Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for the Switch 2, game director Naoki Hamaguchi mentioned that he felt the console has enough horsepower to run the trilogy, suggesting that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the unnamed third entry may eventually be ported to the platform. According to him, the hardware has a lot of memory, making it easier for developers to develop games for the platform.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth originally arrived for PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024 and later for Windows PC on January 23, 2025. The second chapter in Square Enix’s ambitious remake trilogy continues the story of Cloud Strife and his allies as they battle Shinra and Sephiroth across a re-imagined world. Their mission is to stop the Shinra Electric Power Company from draining Mako, the Planet’s life force, for energy, and to confront the former elite SOLDIER Sephiroth, who aims to merge with the Planet to gain immense power. Building on the systems established in Remake, Rebirth blends fast-paced real-time combat with strategic and role-playing mechanics.
