A playable demo for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is now available to download on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S. Square Enix has quietly made the demo accessible through both platforms, allowing players to sample the enhanced version of the acclaimed role-playing game ahead of its full release early next year.

On Nintendo Switch 2, the demo is available through the US eShop, though it may not immediately appear through standard browsing. Users will need to manually search for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, as multiple store listings exist for the title. One of these entries includes the option to download the demo. The demo file size on Switch 2 is approximately 7.9 GB, and players will need to ensure sufficient storage space before initiating the download.

Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S users can also download the demo directly through the Xbox Store. On Xbox platforms, the demo file size is notably larger, coming in at around 16 GB. Despite the difference in download size, the demo serves the same purpose across both platforms, offering an early look at the Intergrade release.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the enhanced edition of the first entry in the Final Fantasy VII remake project. The game retells the original story up to the party’s escape from Midgar, featuring updated visuals, fast-paced action, and additional narrative content. Players follow Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER turned mercenary, who joins the Avalanche resistance group in their fight against the Shinra Electric Power Company, an organization exploiting the planet’s Mako energy for power. The story unfolds amid rising conflict, personal revelations, and events that set the course for the wider saga.

The Intergrade release also includes FF7R Episode INTERmission, a side story focused on Yuffie Kisaragi. This episode runs parallel to Cloud’s journey and places players in control of the young ninja from Wutai as she infiltrates Midgar on a mission involving powerful materia. Alongside the main game and the Yuffie episode, the full product includes a range of in-game items, equipment, accessories, summoning materia, and a ported version of the original Final Fantasy VII.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S on January 22, 2026. The demo release gives players an early opportunity to experience the definitive edition before its arrival on these platforms.
