Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Update Announced for PS5, PC

Square Enix has announced a new update for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade that will roll out on PlayStation 5 and PC next week. The update is timed to coincide with the game’s launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox platforms, marking another major expansion of the title’s availability. The announcement was shared through the official Final Fantasy VII social media account and outlines a significant new gameplay option aimed at accessibility and convenience.

According to the official statement, “To celebrate Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade launch day on Nintendo Switch 2 & Xbox, a patch for the PS5 and PC versions will launch next Thursday.” The post confirms that the update will introduce a feature called Streamlined Progression, which is designed to simplify combat and progression for players who want a more straightforward experience.

The Streamlined Progression option includes the ability to keep HP and MP permanently filled, along with guaranteeing that every attack deals the maximum damage value of 9,999. As described in the announcement, the update introduces “the ability to keep HP and MP topped up, and always hit for 9,999 damage.” These features are optional and represent a notable shift from the game’s original balance, effectively removing traditional difficulty barriers for those focused primarily on the story.

This update arrives as Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade prepares to debut on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, including support for Xbox Play Anywhere, on January 22, 2026. These new versions mark the first time the remake has appeared outside the PlayStation ecosystem since its original release. Intergrade bundles the main Midgar storyline with the Episode INTERmission DLC, which introduces Yuffie as a playable character and expands on the game’s narrative.

The Switch 2 and Xbox versions place particular emphasis on welcoming new audiences. The Streamlined Progression system is positioned as a way for players with limited time or less interest in demanding combat encounters to experience the story without friction. A free demo is also available on both platforms, with save data carrying over to the full game, further lowering the barrier to entry.

While the update is being introduced alongside the new platform launches, Square Enix has confirmed that PlayStation 5 and PC players will receive the same patch at no additional cost. This ensures feature parity across platforms and avoids fragmenting the experience between different versions of the game.
