Square Enix has released a new hotfix update for Final Fantasy XIV, bringing performance improvements and a wide range of bug fixes across the game. The update places particular emphasis on the Nintendo Switch 2 version, introducing faster loading during duties and resolving several touch screen issues.
The patch also addresses quest progression, Occult Crescent encounters, graphical problems, equipment display bugs, configuration sharing, and Duty Recorder playback. Game clients will automatically update when launched.

- Optimised data loading to reduce screen transition times during duties.
Quests
- Fixed an issue where completing the Allied Society Quest Hero’s Day Off did not display the notification for reaching the Allied reputation rank.
- Fixed an issue in Occult Crescent: North Horn where In the Shadow of the Tower incorrectly displayed the completed quest icon before the objective had been finished.
Duties
- Fixed an issue where players who logged out while incapacitated and returned more than 10 minutes later could re-enter duties after they should have been expelled, affecting:
- The Occult Crescent: South Horn – Forked Tower: Blood
- The Occult Crescent: North Horn – Forked Tower: Magic
- The Occult Crescent: North Horn – The Forked Tower: Magic (Extreme)
- The Forbidden Land, Eureka Hydatos – The Baldesion Arsenal
Occult Crescent
- Fixed an issue where multiple damage-nullifying Phantom Action buffs incorrectly consumed one another, including:
- Shirahadori
- Image
- Occult Blink
- Fixed the visual effect for Dark Flare during the Dark Artistry critical encounter so it now matches the attack’s actual area.
- Fixed a missing sound effect for Spinebreaking Stampede during the Accept No Imitators critical encounter.
- Fixed visual effects from Cold Stare and Sinister Sight appearing for players not participating in the Eye to Eye FATE.
- Fixed an issue where travelling circles in Occult Crescent: North Horn could leave players stuck in the ground or suspended in midair.
- Fixed incorrect animations and visual effects for the following Phantom Actions:
- Occult Aero III
- Occult Holy
- Chaos Drive
- Punishing Ray
- Drain Touch
- Step Forth
Graphics
- Fixed visual effects displaying incorrectly at certain camera angles for the following weapons:
- Phantom Spear Occultum
- Phantom Cane Occultum
- Phantom Index Occultum
- Phantom Codex Occultum
- Phantom Revolver Occultum
- Phantom Degen Occultum
- Fixed waist graphics when Tradewinds Gaskins were equipped with certain footwear on affected male races.
- Fixed left leg graphical issues affecting Vana’dielian Tights of Healing on affected female races during specific idle animations.
User Interface
- Fixed Configuration Sharing so keybinds and log filter settings are now stored under Character Configuration instead of Miscellaneous Data.

Touch Controls
- Fixed an issue where touch screen input was not recognised as player activity during duties, preventing players from being incorrectly removed for inactivity.
- Fixed an issue in the Gold Saucer GATE Air Force One where shots fired using touch controls targeted the previous reticle position instead of the touched location.
- Fixed Duty Recorder replay data failing to play correctly after selecting a chapter while playback was paused.
Final Fantasy XIV is a subscription-based MMORPG developed and published by Square Enix. Originally released worldwide on August 27, 2013, the game continues to receive regular content updates and hotfixes. The August 7, 2026 hotfix is available now, with game clients updating automatically upon launch.
