The recent “Revenge” trailer for Final Fantasy XVI was running in real-time, and the developer claims that the game will showcase the power of the PS5.
During a special Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer stream, Naoki Yoshida said that everything seen in the recent “Revenge” trailer for Final Fantasy XVI was all real-time and that the game will showcase the power of the PS5 hardware.
According to Yoshi-P, the latest trailer features real-time rendering in its entirety, and that the camera can be turned at any time to reflect the fact. He said that Final Fantasy XVI has now become a game that truly shows off what the PS5 hardware is capable of. Indeed, the latest entry in the long-running Final Fantasy series is shaping up to be quite the looker, and fans can’t wait to get their hands on the game later this year on June 22, 2023. It will be a timed PS5 exclusive for six months based on the promotional message seen during the official trailer, and it is possible that the PC version will follow after this period has ended.
Previously, it was revealed that Final Fantasy XVI is one of the most violent games in the series. The ESRB had shared the rating for Final Fantasy XVI, revealing some of the content that is featured in the game. It listed Blood and Gore, Partial Nudity, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, and Violence as the main reason for this rating. This has never been the case in any of the mainline games in the series proving that this is the darkest Final Fantasy so far.
While it is true that some of the spin-offs like Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD were previously rated as Mature M17+, these games were not mainline entries. In the case of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, it was just some specific scenes that featured blood and violence.
