Kepler Interactive and A44 Games’ action role-playing game, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you’re on the fence about which version to pick up, read ahead.
The game offers 2 graphical modes on PS5 and Xbox Series X i.e. Quality and Performance, while there is only one mode available on Xbox Series S. In terms of graphical settings, there isn’t much to distinguish between the Quality and Performance modes. The Xbox Series S version exhibits some visual clipping in texturing, vegetation, and global illumination. On PC, it is possible to run Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn at higher graphical settings and get a better visual experience over the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
In terms of image quality, the PS5 and Xbox Series X run Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn at a native resolution of 4K (2160p) in Quality mode and 1440p in Performance mode. The only mode available on the Xbox Series S also runs at 1080p. Meanwhile, it’s possible to run the game at native 4K on capable PC hardware.
With regards to performance, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn target a frame rate of 30 fps in Quality mode. Performance mode targets a frame rate of 60 fps on both consoles. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version targets a frame rate of 30 fps. The frame rate on all consoles is stable, with no noticeable drops.The PC version, on the other hand, is able to run above 60 fps on capable systems.
All in all, the PC version of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn delivers the best possible experience, while the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions both deliver the best possible console experience, and the preference comes down to your choice of controller.
