A multiplayer beta test for Xbox Game Studios and The Coalition’s third-person shooter, Gears of War: Reloaded, is possibly incoming.
A new database listing for Gears of War: Reloaded went up on SteamDB on May 15, 2025, suggesting that a multiplayer beta test is set to happen sometime soon. With the Xbox Games Showcase coming up on June 8, 2025, the official announcement is likely to happen at the event. As per the listing, the beta client currently has a download size of 12.57 GB and an install size of 15.42 GB.

As is the case with other multiplayer titles, developer The Coalition is likely looking to test crossplay functionality and server load with the Gears of War: Reloaded beta. As of writing, it is unknown whether it will be available to everyone or if there will be a sign-up process with limited slots available. In the event that it does end up being a public beta, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it being shadow dropped at the Xbox Game Showcase on June 8, 2025.
Earlier this month, Microsoft and The Coalition officially announced Gears of War: Reloaded, a modernized version of the original Gears of War. The game is scheduled to launch on August 26, 2025, across Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, with support for cross-progression and cross-play across all platforms. The title will retail for 39.99 USD, and will also be accessible day one via Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
This release includes all content from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, such as the bonus campaign act, every multiplayer map and mode, and an array of unlockable characters and cosmetics. It features significant improvements in both visual and performance aspects, such as 4K resolution, 60 FPS in Campaign, and up to 120 FPS in Multiplayer. Support for HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround sound, and remastered assets ensure a high-fidelity experience that matches modern hardware standards. Platform-specific features have also been implemented to maximize the visual and gameplay quality across all supported systems.
