Sucker Punch Productions has announced that Ghost of Yōtei Legends will launch on March 10 for PS5. The online co-op mode arrives as part of patch 1.5 and will be available at no additional cost to all owners of Ghost of Yōtei.
Legends introduces a multiplayer experience where players team up to battle supernatural interpretations of the Yōtei Six. At launch, the mode will feature three mission types designed around cooperative play and escalating challenges.
Survival mode allows up to four players to face successive waves of increasingly difficult enemies across four different maps. Teams must fight to maintain control of specific territories within each map. Holding an area grants access to a Blessing that provides combat advantages, while losing control triggers a Curse that places the group at a disadvantage. Each map features its own set of Blessings and Curses, encouraging players to adapt their approach depending on the environment.
Story mode pairs two players together for a sequence of 12 missions. Completing each trio of missions unlocks an Incursion, a larger-scale four-player assault on a stronghold tied to a member of the Yōtei Six. These Incursions culminate in boss encounters against towering supernatural foes, including versions of the Spider, the Oni, the Kitsune, and the Snake.
A Raid is also planned for release in April. Designed as a more demanding endgame activity, the Raid will challenge players to confront the Dragon and Lord Saito, offering what the studio describes as the ultimate test of coordination and skill.
Players can choose from four classes in Ghost of Yōtei Legends: Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, and Shinobi. While all classes have access to a katana and ranged options, each one specializes in distinct combat styles and weapon types. The Samurai wields the ōdachi and has the broadest selection of weapon categories. The Archer can equip a yari and carry an additional ranged weapon. The Mercenary uses dual katanas and focuses on utility-based abilities. The Shinobi employs the kusarigama and emphasizes stealth-oriented skills.
Progression in Legends includes earning loot through leveling, as well as unlocking Legendary weapons and gear by tackling higher difficulty content. Unique armor cosmetics are tied to each class and can be obtained by completing in-game feats.
The mode also brings back Photo Mode, allowing players to capture moments from their cooperative sessions. A new Legends lobby area offers space to practice combat and archery, compete in Zeni Hajiki, or attempt to set high scores in Bamboo Strike between missions.
Ghost of Yōtei Legends launches March 10 on PS5 as a free update for all Ghost of Yōtei owners, with the Raid set to follow in April.
