God of War Ragnarok Valhalla Secrets & Easter Eggs Revealed
All secrets and Easter Eggs that reference the original God of War series in God of War Ragnarok Valhalla can be seen below.
An Old Debt
In God of War III, moments prior to getting suffering decapitation by the hands of Kratos, the sun god Helios mentions that he owed Kratos from when he saved him from Atlas. In God of War Ragnarok Valhalla, Kratos encounters Helios’ head, who reminds him of the debt and also of his own fate. Kratos explains the reason he ripped off Helios’ head in God of War III to him and Mimir.
Kratos said that he needed Helios’ power to secure his vengeance against the gods. He mentioned that he believed he had no choice. Helios responded by saying that Kratos didn’t have to rip his head off his body, and that it was absolutely an option. He added that Kratos killing him deprived Greece of the sun, the land was plunged into perpetual cold and darkness, crops ceased to grow, and famine descended across the land.
Blade of Olympus
The Blade of Olympus originally appeared in God of War: Ghost of Sparta, God of War II, and God of War III. Forged by Zeus from the Heavens and the Earth at the conclusion of the Great War, the powerful weapon was created to banish the Titans to Tartarus, putting an end to the brutal conflict. The legendary blade makes a triumphant return during the course of God of War Ragnarok Valhalla’s story, and it retains its combat animations from the earlier games.
Kratos Confronts His Younger Self
Kratos faces his younger self from when he ascends to the throne in Greece. He mentions that he remembers how it felt to take the throne, and all that it meant, and all that it did. He said that he was not a god of war, but a god of pain, of suffering, and of destruction. He tells his younger self that there is no forgiving him for his sins.
Other references include the addition of the original theme from God of War as well as enemies from the earlier games, including the Cyclops.
God of War Ragnarok Valhalla was released on December 12 for the PS4 and PS5.
