An early development build of Rockstar Games’ 2008 open-world action-adventure game, GTA IV, has been publicly leaked.
Members of the GTAForums have reported that an early development build of GTA IV has been leaked. It is said to be roughly 95% intact, though the files in the “movies” folder, the “common” folder, and the xbox360.rpf file no longer exist in the Xbox 360 devkit the build was extracted from. The leaked build number is ’78’, while the retail version is ‘118’, indicating that it is from fairly early in development.
Unfortunately, the leaked GTA IV build freezes at a certain point due to a lack of critical assets. Using assets from the retail version will only allow a largely blank grey screen to appear, with no way to exit it.
GTA IV Cut Content Revealed
The leaked game files contain models and assets from an early version of GTA IV. In addition, there are signs of cut content, such as animation states for what appears to be a rumored Zombies minigame that was allegedly cut from the final game.
Furthermore, around half of the radio stations in the leaked development build of GTA IV are completely different from those present in the final release. GTAForums user MGgames100 compiled a list of cut tracks they were able to dig up from the game files, which can be seen below.
