GTA V Enhanced Updated vs Original Ray Tracing Comparison Shows Major Improvement To Light Dispersion

Rockstar Games has updated GTA V Enhanced on PC with improved ray tracing features, and if you’re wondering how it compares with the original version, read ahead.

The updated version of GTA V Enhanced adds the option to enable addition ray tracing features, specifically a second ray bounce for Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI) and rendering of Ray Traced Reflections at the full scene resolution. As seen in the video below, the improved light dispersion and color bleed is instantly noticeable in in-door locations that have light coming in from outside.

Additionally, native resolution reflections look crisp, highlighting greater environmental detail. The lower resolution reflections in the original Enhanced version of GTA V on PC Reflections didn’t look particularly good in most situations, especially when it’s raining during the nighttime.

While not quite as prominent in fully outdoor areas, the additional ray bounce for RTGI does have a visible impact on the richness of color in the environments.

Last month in May, 2025, Rockstar Games rolled out an update that resolved issues with ray tracing performance, missing or stretched textures, and environmental audio glitches. A problematic mission bug in ‘By the Book’ that previously affected players running the game at high frame rates has also been fixed. Additionally, lighting settings have been clarified to better explain their visual impact.

The prior and the current update continue Rockstar Games’ effort to polish the GTA V experience across both legacy and current-gen platforms. In terms of new content, the current update adds a network of new money laundering businesses for players to manage, Freemode content, and 7 new vehicles, including Överflöd Suzume (Super), Dewbauchee Rapid GT X (Sports), Karin Woodlander (SUV) – PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and GTAV Enhanced only, Übermacht Sentinel GTS (Sports), Annis Hardy (Sedan), Karin Everon RS (SUV), and Western Police Bike (Emergency).
