Rockstar Games’ upcoming open world action game, GTA VI, has allegedly been content complete for some time, and is not expected to receive another delay.
During the latest episode of the Insider Gaming podcast (via GameRoll_ on Twitter/X), known insider Tom Henderson claimed that he GTA VI has been content complete for a while now, and that he doesn’t believe it will receive another delay. According to him, the focus for the next year will be on polishing up the game and making it as perfect and as stable as possible in order to avoid a Cyberpunk 2077-like debacle.
Regarding the recent delay, Henderson said that Rockstar Games will not release GTA VI until it is practically perfect. He believes that if there’s a “single glitch that Rockstar can fix”, the game simply won’t see the light of day. He further stated that there’s no need to worry about the quality of the game itself when it does eventually get released.
A few days ago, Rockstar Games officially announced a new release date for Grand Theft Auto VI, confirming that the highly anticipated title will launch on November 19, 2026. In a statement accompanying the announcement, the developer expressed appreciation for fans’ patience, explaining that the extra time will be used to achieve the level of polish players have come to expect from the studio’s releases. “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait,” the statement read. “These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
GTA VI is set in the fictional state of Leonida, which includes a reimagined and modernized Vice City, the series’ well-known homage to Miami. The game will follow two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, who are depicted as a criminal couple navigating the criminal underworld. Lucia will serve as the first non-optional female protagonist in the mainline franchise, bringing a shift in narrative focus and representation for the long-running series.
