The Online mode for Rockstar Games’ next open-world action-adventure game, GTA VI, is planned for launch within a moth after the Story mode’s release, according to a new rumor.

Known insider and TheGhostOfHope took to Twitter/X to share some details regarding the release window of the online component of the upcoming GTA VI. They mentioned hearing from a source that Rockstar Games’ current plan is to launch the Online mode within a month after the release of the base single-player game.

Hardly anything is currently known about GTA VI’s Online mode. Back in January, 25, insider Tez2 claimed that Rockstar Games will split the game into two editions, where one will only feature a standalone online mode while the other will offer the complete package, including both the online and single-player story modes. The developer alreadys sell GTA V Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 Online as standalone titles. However, the difference here is that GTA VI will allegedly be the first entry where the online component will be offered as a standalone release from day one. This essentially means Rockstar Games and Take-Two will account for the standalone online mode when determining the price of the complete edition.

The insider further mentioned that Take-Two may be looking to offer the online mode at a lower price, making it more accessible for players who may not be able to pay full price at launch. Over time, many of these players would likely upgrade to experience the full story mode, making it a beneficial strategy for the publisher. They also pointed out that this could lead to a scenario where the publisher could leverage GTA+ by offering a Game Pass-style subscription model. Instead of saving up for the upgrade, some players may opt to subscribe, generating consistent revenue for Take-Two.
