Xbox Game Studios and Halo Studios’ upcoming first-person shooter, Halo: Campaign Evolved, is extensively reusing models and assets from Halo Infinite, according to a new rumor.
According to content creator Rebs Gaming, who claims to have received information from a credible anonymous source, the upcoming Halo: Campaign Evolved will be leaning heavily on reused assets from Halo Infinite. Additionally, he shared that one of the new prequel missions will involve an ODST helljumper, who will play a key role in reigniting the long-standing rivalry between Spartans and ODSTs. This tension dates back to the early days of the Spartan program, where friction arose due to differences in status, equipment, and battlefield recognition.
In addition to character-driven conflict, the missions are rumored to include a subtle homage to Halo: Reach, potentially tying together elements of the broader Halo timeline. More intriguingly, players may encounter a completely new Covenant faction. Unlike previous iterations, this group is described as having a more overtly religious aesthetic and distinct behavioral traits, particularly in how they interact with technology. Brutes are also confirmed to appear, and the content creator mentioned that there’s a very good reason for this, which he’ll talk about in the near future.
Regarding the reuse of assets in Halo: Campaign Evolved, the content creator mentioned that Halo Studios directly took the Covenant and UNSC Marine models from Halo Infinite rather than recreating the original visual style of Combat Evolved. This approach echoes criticism previously directed at Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, which similarly mixed assets from other games.
Halo: Campaign Evolved will be released sometime in 2026 across PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Built using Unreal Engine 5, the remake brings enhanced visuals alongside a reworked mission structure that blends redesigned classic levels with entirely new ones. The remake also incorporates gameplay systems, weapons, and other elements seen in later Halo titles.
