Halo Infinite Scrapped 10-Year Content Plan Allegedly Revealed

Details regarding the 10-year content plan for Xbox Game Studios and 343 Industries’ first-person shooter, Halo Infinite, have allegedly been revealed.

Halo insider and content creator Rebs Gaming has shared a new video in which he talks about the scrapped 10-year plan for new Halo Infinite content. The first indication of these plans came via former 343 industries Studio Head Chris Lee, who spoke to IGN in 2020 about wanting the game to grow over the next decade instead of releasing new titles.

Halo infinite content plan

The content creator mentioned that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer being released a month ahead of its campaign was the first step of the 10-year content plan. As seen in the pitch presentation slide above, 343 Industries had planned to launch the game’s multiplayer mode in the Fall of 2019. Other slides from presentation mentioned that it would be the lowest barrier to entry for any Halo title and a meaningful early access to the game that people would play for years to come.

A former Halo Infinite developer told the insider that 343 Industries had plan to release multiple large-scale game modes for the game’s multiplayer component. This included the previously rumored Battle Royale mode, codenamed Tatanka, and other large-scale modes like Warzone.

The pitch presentation also revealed that the Halo Infinite campaign was originally planned for release an entire year after the multiplayer component. It was to incorporate a new content formula that included an evergreen campaign with deeper playability and annual updates. The story would have been expanded through yearly campaign DLC, so players would not have to wait for another mainline Halo title. The pitch presentation showed a DLC called Atrioxis Reign with a release year of 2021 and an accompanied description that said it would introduce a warlord system to the game’s open world.

Ultimately, however, 343 Industries ended up cutting campaign content and never developed any official DLC for Halo Inifnite. The 10-year plan was scrapped because the studio had major leadership issues. After the decision was made to switch to Unreal Engine for the next Halo title, all future content that was being developed in the Slipspace Engine was scrapped.
