The next Halo multiplayer game is reportedly codenamed Prooject Ekur, and it may be set for reveal sometime later this year in 2026.
In his new video, known Halo insider and content creator Rebs Gaming claims to have received direct confirmation from a trusted source that Project Ekur is the rumored next Halo multiplayer game. He explained that previous sources had only been able to provide information about the project’s development through the middle of 2023, leaving uncertainty over whether it had been cancelled or evolved into something else. While he had previously uncovered details about the game’s prototype stage, he clarified that he hadn’t been able to state with certainty that Ekur was Halo Studios’ upcoming multiplayer title.
The insider mentioned that his source is not comfortable sharing additional details about the game at this time. As a result, many key questions remain unanswered, including whether Project Ekur will combine traditional Halo multiplayer with new gameplay ideas or focus entirely on a fresh experience.
Earlier reports from the content creator indicated that, during its prototype stage in mid-2023, Certain Affinity was experimenting with a large-scale multiplayer mode inspired by Halo’s classic Big Team Battle and Warzone match types, while also incorporating extraction-style mechanics. According to one source, the project faced a major decision point in September 2023, when developers would determine whether to move forward with full production.
Rebs Gaming also revisited information from a previous source who accurately revealed details about Halo’s single-player “Campaign Evolved” project before it became public. According to that source, Halo Studios is also developing a multiplayer game built around a live-service model comparable to Fortnite, with ongoing content updates planned after launch. At the time, he couldn’t confirm whether the aforementioned game and Project Ekur are one and the same at the time, but he now believes they are connected.
Previous Halo Fests have featured major announcements, and Halo Studios has already teased that the upcoming event will bring “some surprises” that have yet to be revealed. As such, the insider believes there’s a strong possibility that Project Ekur will make an appearance at the event.
