Arrowhead Game Studios has announced that Helldivers 2 will receive a major content update, titled Into the Unjust, on September 2. The expansion introduces new environments, enemies, and mission types, further developing the ongoing conflict against the Terminids.
The update focuses on the Gloom, a dense fog covering Hive Worlds that conceals hostile forces and alien structures. Players will be tasked with exploring both surface areas and subterranean cave systems, where they will encounter the Hive Lung, a biological entity believed to generate the Gloom. Because of the underground setting, players will have reduced access to orbital support, making cooperative play more critical.
New enemy types will be introduced with the update. Among them are subterranean Terminid Warriors, Bile Spewers, and Chargers that tunnel underground before erupting to attack. A flying variant, referred to as the Dragonroach, poses an additional threat by diving from the skies and unleashing corrosive bile. Arrowhead has also indicated that larger, more dangerous creatures may be hidden within Hive Worlds.
Players will face new objectives, including escort missions involving a mobile oil rig and operations to locate and destroy the Hive Lung. Additional optional and secondary objectives will also be available, expanding mission variety.
Alongside the update, Arrowhead confirmed the release of the Dust Devils Premium Warbond on September 4. The paid content pack introduces new weapons such as the AR-2 Coyote assault rifle, the G-7 Pineapple cluster grenade, and the S-11 Speargun. Two new missile-based stratagems, the EAT-700 Expendable Napalm and MS-11 Solo Silo, are also included.
The Warbond will further add cosmetic items, including new armor sets, capes, emotes, vehicle patterns, and player titles. Both armor sets, DS-42 Federation’s Blade and DS-191 Scorpion, feature the Desert Stormer passive, which grants resistance to environmental hazards such as fire and acid while increasing throwable range.
Helldivers 2 launched in February 2024 and has received frequent updates expanding its cooperative third-person shooter gameplay. With Into the Unjust, Arrowhead continues to build on its model of live-service content, introducing new threats and customization options for players.
