Hi-Fi Rush PS5 vs Xbox Series vs PC Comparison: Which Platform Is Best

by Muhammad Ali Bari

Microsoft and Tango Gameworks’ rhythm-based action game, Hi-Fi Rush, is now available on PS5, and if you’re wondering how it compares to the existing Xbox Series X|S and PC versions, read ahead.

Hi-Fi Rush offers a single graphics mode across all consoles. All console versions are largely identical in terms of visual settings, with the exception of shadows, which are slightly crisper on PS5. Meanwhile, much like the Xbox Series X|S versions, the PC version of Hi-Fi Rush is also without the improvements to shadows seen in the new PS5 release.

In terms of resolution, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Hi-Fi Rush operate at a native resolution of 4K (2160p). Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version runs at a native resolution of 1440p. On PC, the game isn’t particularly demanding, and can run at a native 4K relatively easily on mid-range hardware.

With regards to performance, all versions of Hi-Fi Rush target a frame rate of 60 fps, and are able to consistently maintain it during gameplay. Meanwhile, the PC version is capable of running at arbitrary frame rates that go well above 60 fps, and can, therefore, deliver the most fluid gameplay experience.

In terms of load times, the PS5 has a slight edge over the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions, though all versions load relatively quickly.

All in all, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Hi-Fi Rush deliver a largely identical experience, with the only distinguishing factor being improved shadows and slightly faster load times. Meanwhile, the PC version, while also missing the improved shadows seen in the PS5 version, is capable of running at much higher frame rates on capable hardware, and can, therefore, deliver the best possible experience.

Hi-Fi Rush was announced and released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on January 25, 2023. It was later released for PlayStation 5 on March 19, 2024.
