Kojima Productions’ Hideo Kojima has already written the concept for Death Stranding 3, but he won’t be working on it himself.

During an interview with PlayStation Arabia (via Twitter/X user Genki_JPN), game director Hideo Kojima was asked about the possibility of a sequel to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. In response, he mentioned that he has no plans of working on a Death Stranding 3 at the moment, because the ending for the second entry was his finale for both titles.

However, Kojima revealed that he has already written the concept for Death Stranding 3, and that he hope someone else will create it for him. This is likely due to the game director having his hands full with other projects, including OD and Physint. It’ll be interesting to see which of his peers at Kojima Productions steps up to lead the development of the third entry in the Death Stranding series. Though, anything on that front is years away from coming to fruition.

Elsewhere during the interview, Kojima assured his fans that he will be remain a creator and create things for as long as he lives. Today is his birthday, and he has turned 62. According to him, this is usually the age when people begin to retire. However, he said that since he is connected to all his fans, he wants to continue surprising everyone in the future.

Recently, Kojima took to Twitter/X to share that more than 79% of players who reached the end of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach have continued playing, exploring the post-game content, and staying connected to the game world. The acclaimed game director expressed gratitude and reflected on the emotional core of the game. He offered a message of hope to players who had reached the finale, remarking that in difficult times, “there is someone out there who would risk their life to protect you – even if you don’t notice, someone is connected to you, watching over you.”
