Hollow Knight Public Beta version 1.5.12301 is now available, delivering a mix of visual, control, and quality-of-life improvements for players testing the public-beta branch. The update expands display support, refines combat and traversal behavior, and introduces system-level input improvements aimed at broader controller compatibility.
Alongside these additions, the beta addresses several long-standing gameplay issues and implements smaller tweaks to improve overall polish. Some platform-specific cutscene issues remain known and are currently being worked on.

- Added support for 21:9 and 16:10 resolutions
- Added a dithering effect to reduce color banding

- Salubra’s Blessing now deactivates after reaching maximum Soul

- Fixed a softlock issue in the City of Tears Grub room

Known Issues
- Cutscenes currently do not play on macOS
- Cutscenes may display a test pattern on Steam Deck due to an incompatible Proton version
- Temporary workaround on Steam Deck involves selecting a Linux Runtime compatibility option to force the native Linux version
