With Hollow Knight: Silksong just days away from launch, Team Cherry has provided final details for backers regarding survey submissions, key distribution, and platform-specific upgrades. The studio confirmed that a free upgrade pack will be available for Nintendo Switch 2 players, ensuring the sequel takes full advantage of the new hardware.
Backers who supported the project are being reminded to complete their surveys promptly in order to receive their game keys. Some participants have reported that survey emails may land in junk folders, prompting Team Cherry to urge players to double-check before reaching out directly through their support address. Surveys will officially close within 24 hours, though backers who miss the deadline will still be able to obtain their keys by contacting the developer.
For digital delivery, Steam and DRM-free copies will be handled via Humble Bundle, mirroring the process used for the original Hollow Knight. These versions will also include the official soundtrack, though DRM-free builds will only become visible upon launch. Nintendo Switch codes, meanwhile, will be sent via email and cannot be redeemed until the title is officially available in each region.
In a note specific to the Nintendo Switch 2, Team Cherry clarified that players will first need to redeem their standard Switch key and download the game. After that, an additional free upgrade pack can be downloaded from the eShop to unlock enhancements tailored to the newer system.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is the long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed 2017 Metroidvania from the Australian indie team. Originally conceived as downloadable content, the project expanded into a full sequel starring Hornet, a central character from the first game. The title is set to release worldwide on September 4, 2025, across Linux, macOS, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
