Hollow Knight Silksong Launches Worldwide, but Remains Unavailable on PlayStation

by Salal Awan

Hollow Knight: Silksong has officially launched across all major platforms, but for PlayStation owners, the experience has hit a frustrating roadblock. Despite being slated for release on both PS4 and PS5, the game is still inaccessible on Sony’s storefront hours after its global debut on September 4, 2025.

The PlayStation Store currently lists Silksong as “announced,” with only an option to add it to a wishlist rather than purchase or download it. While the game exists on the PlayStation Network backend, complete with confirmed download sizes, it has yet to be made available to players. No estimated time of arrival has been provided by Sony or the developer Team Cherry.

This setback follows an already turbulent launch day. The overwhelming demand for Silksong crashed nearly every major digital storefront at release, including Steam, Xbox Store, PlayStation Network, and Nintendo eShop. As The Verge’s Tom Warren observed, “Silksong is hammering the Steam, Nintendo, Xbox, and PlayStation stores,” underlining the extraordinary strain on online services. Jason Schreier similarly joked that “Silksong’s first boss is tricky as hell,” referencing the widespread store crashes.

Reports quickly emerged of failed purchases, broken downloads, and errors on multiple platforms. Even Xbox Game Pass subscribers, who had access to the game on day one, were unable to launch or install it during the initial rollout. SteamDB confirmed over 100,000 active users within hours of launch, already surpassing the original Hollow Knight’s peak concurrent player count of 70,000, which only occurred years later.

As of now, the Nintendo eShop is also undergoing maintenance, with Nintendo confirming the issue through an official support message. Meanwhile, PlayStation users remain in limbo, waiting for the title to appear on their systems.

Despite these obstacles, Hollow Knight: Silksong is technically available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2, in addition to its troubled PlayStation launch. It remains accessible on day one via Xbox Game Pass, though the service too has been affected by the launch-day rush.
