The long wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong is nearly over, and a new detail has emerged ahead of its launch. While developer Team Cherry has yet to confirm pricing, retailer GameStop has listed the upcoming sequel at $19.99. Given that no physical version has been announced, this figure appears to reflect the digital edition, which will arrive on September 4, 2025.
Team Cherry formally revealed the release date during a live stream earlier this month, which also featured the debut of a new trailer. The game was showcased at Gamescom, where attendees could play it on the Xbox Rog Ally and Nintendo Switch 2. The latest footage emphasized Silksong’s ambitious scope, promising 40 boss battles, more than 200 enemy types, and an expanded world map for players to explore.
A direct sequel to the award-winning Hollow Knight, Silksong shifts the narrative focus to Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest. Captured and taken to a mysterious new kingdom, Hornet must ascend to its peak in a perilous journey marked by deadly enemies, hidden lore, and revelations tied to her past.
Beyond launch, Team Cherry has also hinted at long-term support for the title. In an interview with Bloomberg, developers Ari Gibson and William Pellen shared that they are planning additional content, such as DLC and post-release updates. “Launching it is obviously quite exciting,” Pellen remarked. “What comes after for us is equally as exciting.” Gibson added, “The most interesting thing now is what can we add to it next. We got a plan. Admittedly, some of the plans for that stuff are kind of ambitious as well, but hopefully we can achieve some of it.”
The official release date is set, and GameStop has seemingly confirmed the pricing for Hollow Knight: Silksong, which looks to be one of the most anticipated indie games of the year. I’m genuinely surprised by the price, especially considering that some indie games have recently been priced as high as $30 or $40. Given that Silksong is expected to offer a substantial amount of content at launch, this pricing appears to be a fantastic deal.
