After years of anticipation, Team Cherry has finally confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will release on September 4, 2025. The announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer, showcasing the long-awaited sequel in action. The footage highlighted the game’s scale, promising 40 boss encounters, over 200 enemy types, and a brief look at the expanded world map.
Silksong serves as the follow-up to the award-winning Hollow Knight, shifting the focus to Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest. Captured and transported to a new kingdom defined by silk and song, Hornet must undertake a perilous pilgrimage to the realm’s peak. Along the way, players will face dangerous adversaries, unravel mysteries, and uncover secrets tied to Hornet’s identity.
Team Cherry describes the world as vast and diverse, featuring coral forests, moss-filled grottos, gilded cities, and misted moors, all culminating in a towering citadel. The sequel promises enhanced combat mechanics with new acrobatic maneuvers, powerful tools, and craftable weapons. In addition, a special Silk Soul mode will be available as post-game content, while Christopher Larkin returns to compose another atmospheric orchestral score.
The minimum system requirements on PC include a 64-bit operating system, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB RAM, and 9GB of storage. The game will be available across a wide range of platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.
