For the uninitiated, Hunter × Hunter: Nen × Impact is scheduled to launch on July 17, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Windows via Steam. It is available in early access starting today, July, 15, 2025. It is based on the Hunter × Hunter anime and manga, featuring fast-paced 3 vs 3 tag team battles. Players assemble a team of three fighters, each with their own signature abilities in order to face off against either AI-controlled opponents or other players in both local and online multiplayer modes.

Combat mechanics are similar to Eighting’s previous titles, such as Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. Players can switch between their three selected characters during matches and call on inactive teammates for assist moves. Victory is achieved by eliminating all three of the opposing team’s fighters. Each character has a unique “Nen Arts” gauge, which fills during battle through combo attacks and enables them to unleash a powerful special move once charged. A dedicated “rush” button also lets players execute enhanced combo sequences, although this feature comes with a cooldown, adding a layer of strategy to the timing of attacks.

The game’s Story Mode allows players to relive iconic battles from the Hunter × Hunter series by taking on CPU-controlled opponents in scripted encounters. These battles often come with optional objectives, such as defeating an enemy within a time limit or pulling off a specific combo.
