Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Surpasses One Million Sales

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment has surpassed one million copies sold worldwide on Nintendo Switch 2, according to Koei Tecmo’s latest financial report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025. The milestone was reached within two months of the game’s November 6, 2025, launch and represents one of the company’s most significant recent successes in the console market.

Nintendo publishes the title in overseas territories, while Koei Tecmo publishes it domestically. Its rapid sales performance is highlighted as a major contributor to Koei Tecmo’s holiday 2025 results and reinforces the commercial strength of the Warriors formula when combined with globally recognized intellectual property.

For Q3 FY25, Koei Tecmo reported total sales of ¥20,461 million, down from ¥30,580 million in Q4 FY24. Despite the decline, the company posted a healthy operating profit of ¥6,607 million, representing a 32 percent profit margin, and a net profit of ¥10,315 million. Over the first nine months of the fiscal year, sales reached ¥51,729 million, compared to ¥52,570 million during the same period last year, indicating relatively flat year over year performance.

The company attributes much of its late fiscal year momentum to a concentration of Tier-1 collaboration titles and the growing Nintendo Switch 2 install base. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is cited as a key example of this strategy paying off, as strong early sales have helped offset softness in other segments.

Koei Tecmo’s Console and PC segment generated ¥9,699 million in sales during Q3 FY25. Package sales accounted for ¥5,263 million, digital downloads for ¥4,047 million, and downloadable content for ¥389 million. Total unit sales for the quarter reached 3.14 million copies. The overseas ratio for this segment stood at 88.5 percent, while the digital ratio was 51.3 percent, noticeably lower than the 70 to 80 percent typically seen for console and PC releases. The company suggests this reflects a collector-driven preference for physical editions tied to new hardware launches and high-profile collaboration titles such as Age of Imprisonment.

Another notable contributor is Dynasty Warriors: Origins, which recently completed its platform rollout. The Nintendo Switch 2 version and the Visions of Four Heroes DLC expansion launched on January 22, 2026, helping drive momentum heading into the fourth quarter.

Koei Tecmo continues to face pressure in its Online and Mobile segment, which posted Q3 FY25 revenue of ¥8,740 million, down from ¥14,140 million in Q3 FY23. Mobile revenue is projected to decline to ¥37,560 million for the full fiscal year, though several long-running titles remain active.

The company has maintained its full-year FY25 forecast, projecting sales of ¥92,000 million, operating profit of ¥31,000 million, and net profit of ¥27,000 million. Growth compared to FY24 is expected to materialize primarily in Q4, supported by ongoing Switch 2 software performance and upcoming releases such as Nioh 3 and Pokémon Pokopia.
