Hytale Update 1 Patch Notes Add New Content and Fixes

Hytale Update 1 marks the first major post launch update, delivering new world content alongside a wide range of fixes, balance adjustments, and quality of life improvements. The patch focuses on expanding environments, refining NPC behavior, and improving core systems such as crafting, audio, and performance.

In addition to new creatures and visual effects, this update addresses numerous long-standing issues across combat, servers, and stability. While some additions remain works in progress, the overall update reflects a faster patching cadence and a clear effort to improve day-to-day gameplay.

Patch Notes

World and Environment

  • Added dinosaurs and additional NPCs to underground jungle biomes, currently using placeholder behaviors and requiring newly generated areas to appear
  • Updated Devastated Lands sewers with proper atmospheric effects and improved creature spawns
  • Applied volcanic environmental effects to areas beneath volcanoes
  • Fixed entity placement, textures, and interiors in Feran villages
  • Removed an invisible filler block behind the bench in the Forgotten Temple

NPCs and Creatures

  • Added knockback resistance to NPCs that previously lacked it
  • Fire themed NPCs and creatures are now immune to fire damage, though they may still visually burn
  • Improved Crystal Earth Golem combat behavior and spin attack
  • Prevented skeletons from taking drowning damage
  • Made Kweebecs immune to environmental damage from cactus and brambles
  • Replaced placeholder summon animation for the Trork Shaman
  • Added proper loot tables to Kweebecs and Trorks in the Whisperfrost Frontiers
  • Prevented livestock from climbing on top of the Chicken Coop
  • Adjusted cautious wildlife predators, such as Foxes, to only engage players when attacked

Crafting, Items, and Farming

  • Reduced Backpack requirements and costs across base and first upgrade tiers
    • Base Backpack now requires a Tier 1 Workbench
    • Base Backpack cost reduced to 8 Medium Leather
    • First Backpack upgrade now requires a Tier 2 Workbench
  • Reduced processing time for Light, Medium, and Heavy Hide by 10 seconds
  • Increased crafting bench material pull range to 14 blocks horizontally and 6 blocks vertically
  • Added item tooltips to processing bench upgrade requirement panels
  • Adjusted raw fruits and vegetables to only grant Health Regen I, with cooking providing additional benefits
  • Fixed dropped items getting stuck on block edges
  • Allowed torches and handheld light sources to be placed while wielding tools via the Utility Slot
  • Limited pickaxe and hatchet swings to primary action use only
  • Corrected Corn exchange values to grant 1 Essence of Life instead of 4
  • Prevented fully grown Cauliflower, Pumpkin, and Eternal Crops from dropping seeds when broken
  • Updated Wood Log tooltips to display correct wood types
  • Corrected crafting recipe terminology from Trunk to Log where applicable
  • Added tree source information to specific Log Type tooltips
  • Updated Woodcutter’s Block to remove developer quality and unused interactions, converting it into a decorative, craftable furniture item

Audio and Visual Effects

  • Added new hit and break sounds for stone
  • Added layered hit and break sounds for ores
  • Fixed horse running sounds while mounted
  • Replaced torch burn loop with a softer ambient sound
  • Adjusted volumes for cocoon breaking and pig related sounds
  • Reduced pitch variation on sword swings
  • Added new ore breaking particles
  • Added fruit eating particles, with more food effects planned
  • Added a particle effect when absorbing NPC memories
  • Updated health potion visuals with glitter, glow, and spiral effects
  • Fixed rope offset when held in hand
  • Corrected hand positioning for various plants and foliage

UI, Performance, and Quality of Life

  • Enabled sleeping starting at 7:30 PM
  • Added a Memories system information panel when first interacting with The Heart of Orbis
  • Prevented Fullscreen, HUD toggle, and Screenshot actions from being bound to mouse buttons
  • Added warnings when launching pre release versions or mismatched world versions
  • Limited sprinting field of view to 160 degrees to prevent extreme visual distortion
  • Fixed LAN server discovery cancellation
  • Improved interaction handling during server lag spikes

Character Customization

  • Added new eye types including Cat Eye, Demonic Eyes, Goat Eye, and Reptile Eye
  • Added new mouth options, Large Mouth and Tiny Lips
  • Added Lavender hair color
  • Reworked Bangs hairstyle and brightened Dark Brown color
  • Fixed Featherbound Hood visibility for the Supporter edition

Combat and Balance

  • Weapon attacks now properly check for line of sight
  • Reduced damage from the regular Burn effect, excluding lava based Burn
  • Updated cactus and brambles to deal Environmental damage type

Commands and Server

  • Fixed teleport command argument order
  • Added item durability support to the give command
  • Updated whitelist and ban commands to support online usernames and offline UUIDs
  • Implemented BBR congestion control for QUIC networking
  • Improved authentication and session token error handling

Bug Fixes and Stability

  • Fixed Charged Attacks not consuming stamina under specific hotbar swap conditions
  • Fixed signature ready sound playing incorrectly in adventure mode
  • Fixed regular expression parsing in the replace command
  • Fixed signature attacks being usable without signature energy
  • Fixed items allowing unintended interaction ranges
  • Corrected fluid flow behavior when stacking water sources
  • Fixed crashes related to non English screenshot folder names
  • Fixed crashes when selecting certain hairstyle variants
  • Fixed crashes caused by corrupt cached avatar previews
  • Fixed crash when the memories plugin fails to load
  • Fixed incorrect timing and rewards for restoring memories
  • Reduced excessive waiting for chunks at view distances under 128
  • Fixed crash when updating player models
  • Fixed localization loop affecting Norwegian language users
  • Fixed race condition in instance teleport causing entity duplication issues
  • Fixed session refresh issues in singleplayer servers
  • Fixed crop growth issues and ensured farming block updates correctly save chunks

Hytale Update 1 follows the game’s Early Access launch on January 13, 2026, and is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux via the official launcher.
