The Ice Age franchise is officially continuing with a brand-new film. During Disney’s D23 event, the studio revealed Ice Age: Boiling Point, the latest entry in the long-running animated series. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on February 5, 2027, and will send the beloved herd on an expedition into uncharted parts of the treacherous Lost World.
First debuting in 2002, the Ice Age series has become one of the most successful animated franchises in history, spanning five theatrical films, a variety of short films, television specials, and video games. Together, the series has grossed billions worldwide, with the adventures of woolly mammoth Manny, ground sloth Sid, and saber-toothed tiger Diego capturing audiences across multiple generations.
The upcoming Boiling Point follows in the footsteps of the series’ last theatrical outing, Ice Age: Collision Course, which premiered in 2016. Since then, the franchise has lived on through Disney+ with the spinoff The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild in 2022. That project featured Simon Pegg reprising his role as Buck, though it arrived without Blue Sky Studios, which had been closed by Disney in 2021.
Beyond the core trio, the Ice Age films have long been known for their growing ensemble, with later entries introducing characters voiced by Queen Latifah, Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Wanda Sykes, and Jennifer Lopez. While Disney has yet to confirm casting for Boiling Point, the return of franchise regulars seems likely given the continued popularity of the central herd.
Ice Age: Boiling Point will be released in theaters on February 5, 2027, ensuring that the prehistoric herd’s journey is far from over.
