Bethesda Softworks and MachineGames’ action adventure game, Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, is now available on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and if you’re looking to learn how it compares to the existing Xbox Series X|S version in terms of visuals, read ahead.
In terms of graphical settings, the PS5 version of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle shows some improvements in Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI) over the Xbox Series X version. The PS5 Pro takes things a few steps further, with improvements to ambient occlusion and contact shadows in some areas, though they aren’t significant. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version exhibits some clipping in lighting, reflections, textures, shadows and post-processing effects.
In terms image quality, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X version of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle operate at a dynamic resolution that maxes out at 4K (2160p). but commonly runs in the range of 1620p and 1800p. However, it can drop down to 1440p on PS5 at times, resulting in the Xbox Series X version running at a higher average resolution. It’s not clear whether the PS5 Pro version operates at a dynamic resolution, as it tends to stick to a native 4K output. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S version runs at a dynamic resolution that maxes out at 1080p, but commonly runs in the range of 900p and 1080p.
With regards to performance, the PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle target a frame rate of 60 fps, and are able to maintain it on a consistent basis.
Overall, Indiana Jones is well-optimized on all platforms, and extra credit goes to the development team for being able to maintain a largely consistent frame rate of 60 fps on all consoles with RTGI enabled without significantly affecting image quality. Given the choice, the PS5 Pro version is the way to go, as it delivers a crisp native 4K presentation with higher quality settings compared to the other consoles.
