A new report from well-known insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, suggests that Capcom is treating the upcoming Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake as a major mainline release rather than a smaller-scale project. According to the insider, the game is being handled by many of the same developers responsible for the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, both of which were praised for successfully modernizing classics in the long-running survival horror franchise.
Dusk Golem explained on social media that while Code Veronica may not reach the same level of ambition as the Resident Evil 4 remake due to the scope of the original material, it is still receiving a full big-budget treatment. He described it as “a big budget RE title in every way,” stressing that the project is designed to be a high-quality remake despite the inherent differences in scale. He further noted that Resident Evil 4 presented unique challenges as one of the most celebrated games of all time, which naturally made its remake a more ambitious undertaking.
In addition to these remarks, the insider hinted that Code Veronica Remake could be officially revealed in 2026 as part of the Resident Evil franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations. While no official confirmation has come from Capcom, the studio has a track record of unveiling major projects during anniversary years, making such timing plausible.
Earlier this month, Dusk Golem also claimed that both Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero are in development, with tentative release windows between 2027 and 2028. The insider added that the Zero remake reportedly underwent a development reboot in late 2024, suggesting Capcom is still refining its approach. Looking further ahead, a brand-new mainline Resident Evil game, unrelated to remakes, is said to be targeting a 2029 or 2030 release.
Capcom has not commented on these claims, and as with all insider reports, details remain unverified until an official announcement is made. Still, the suggestion that Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake is being treated as a full-scale mainline entry may come as welcome news to longtime fans who have been requesting a modern update of the 2000 classic for years.
