An established Resident Evil insider has claimed that notable content was cut from Resident Evil Requiem prior to release, including an additional explorable section of Raccoon City and a return to the iconic Spencer Mansion from the original game.
Posting on X, AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, stated, “I think some will think I’m bullshitting, but I swear I’m telling the truth here. I’m 100% aware of two things that got cut from RE9 for certain. There absolutely was a second section to Raccoon City you did drive around in, that was true. And I never said this publicly.”
In a follow-up post, the insider added, “I never said this publicly (& glad I didn’t as people might be trying to execute me if I did), but I am aware they did work on a return to the RE1 Mansion that’s just not in the final game.” He further noted uncertainty about whether the scrapped material could resurface as downloadable content, writing, “To see if they use scrapped stuff in DLC or something, who knows? I don’t.”
Beyond Resident Evil Requiem, Dusk Golem also commented on the broader roadmap for the franchise. “Code Veronica Remake is slated to be revealed this year & release in 2027. Zero is slated to be released in 2028 (& I doubt gets delayed again, already been delayed twice). RE‘10’ is currently targeting 2029, but at the whims of game dev,” he said, while cautioning that Capcom will announce dates only when confident in release timing.
Resident Evil Requiem, officially designated as Resident Evil 9, launched globally on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Developed on the RE Engine, the game follows Leon S. Kennedy and FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft in a return to the ruins of Raccoon City, blending first-person stealth-focused gameplay with third-person action segments.
