Another insider has corroborated prior rumors regarding the existence of Half-Life 3, and he believes the game is still on track for a 2025 reveal.

During the latest episode of the Insider Gaming podcast (via atahutahatena on Reddit), co-host Mike Straw claimed that he has a release date for the unannounced Half-Life 3 on hand, but he isn’t willing to share it because he believes it’s a Canary Trap set up by Valve to catch leakers. He added that, unless he gets physical concrete proof of when it’s releasing, he won’t be sharing the date.

Half-life 3 reveal

As far as the Half-Life 3 reveal is concerned, Shaw mentioned that he still believes it will be revealed this year in 2025. However, he also doesn’t believe that the game will make an appearance at the upcoming The Game Awards 2025, which are set to take place next month on December 11. Though, he added that if Half-Life 3 show up at the show, it will likely be a follow-up showcase to reveal more about the game following the actual reveal sometime ahead of the event.

Shaw reminded that both Valve insiders Tyler McVicker and Gabefollower are still firm about the Half-Life 3 reveal happening in 2025, and haven’t said anything about a change in plans. Back in August, both insiders reported on a new data mine of updates to Counter-Strike 2 and Deadlock that uncovered evidence regarding the previously leaked Valve project codenamed HLX, believed to be the long-rumored Half-Life 3. Counter Strike 2’s update synced the game with the latest build of the Source 2 engine for the first time in nearly a year, revealing many shared engine components and references, several of which directly link to HLX.

Recently, Xbox Era co-founder Shpeshal_Nick claimed that if the information he received is actually true, GTA VI may have its “thunder stolen on the hype scale”, possibly hinting at an incoming Half-Life 3 announcement.
