Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog’s upcoming action-adventure game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, will possibly make an appearance at The Game Awards 2025.
Update: Colin Moriarty clarified in a subsequent Twitter/X post that everything he said regarding Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is based on his opinion on the game and its potential development timeline. Furthermore, known insider Jeff Grubb has claimed that Naughty Dog’s next title will not be making an appearance at The Game Awards 2025.
During an interview with Dan Allen Gaming, Last Stand Media co-founder Colin Moriarty dropped some hints regarding the development status of Naughty Dog’s upcoming action-adventure game. According to him, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is now “content complete” and is set for a reveal at The Game Awards 2025.
Based on recent studio hiring patterns and information Moriarty says he’s heard from people “interacting with the game,” he believes the team at Naughty Dog is entering the final production phase of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’s development. He explained that active recruitment for localization roles is often a sign that major content is locked in. As he put it, everything is “kind of locked down and, you know, content complete.”
Moriarty also said that fans won’t have to wait long to see more of the game in action. “I believe we’ll see it at The Game Awards this year,” he said, adding that Naughty Dog has “a lot of confidence that like when people see the game, they’re gonna be like, ‘Okay.'” Naughty Dog’s upcoming title was first unveiled at last year’s The Game Awards show, so it’s certainly possible that it will make its next appearance at this year’s event.
Beyond development progress, Moriarty also talked about the divisive reception surrounding Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet since its initial reveal. He argued that much of the hostility stems from lingering resentment over The Last of Us Part 2 and political as well as demographic biases, particularly regarding the studio’s choice of protagonist for the upcoming title. However, he remained certain that “it’s going to be great” and that doubters are “going to be in for a rude awakening.”
The recent job listings from Naughty Dog that Moriarty mentioned include three Associate QA Testers and Language Development Support personnel who were to bug test and work with German, Italian, and Japanese localization teams for Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet. Read about it here.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is set for release exclusively for PlayStation 5.
