Actor Jack Black Black may have accidentally leaked the release window of the third Super Mario Bros movie.
During a recent interview with Cinemex on YouTube, Jack Black appears to have inadvertently hinted at the release window for the third Super Mario Bros movie. The actor is known for his iconic role as Bowser in the animated adaptations.
The interview, which covered everything from Mario trivia to Latin American treats provided by the host, initially focused on Black’s playful engagement with the characters. From identifying Princess Rosalina as the mother of the Lumas to recalling Yoshi, the green dinosaur companion, the discussion was largely a fun, interactive exploration of the Mario universe. Black also attempted to sing a Bowser-inspired tune on the spot.
Towards the end of the interview, after performing an impromptu Bowser song, Black said, “Don’t be surprised if you hear that coming out next time. It was good in 2029. Thank you so much for your time, guys.” While the remark was delivered in a casual and lighthearted manner, it suggested that the third Super Mario Bros movie may be scheduled for release in 2029.
This revelation comes amid anticipation for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie, following the success of the previous film, which was praised for its humor, colorful worlds, and themes of brotherhood and friendship. Black highlighted the joy and laughter these films bring, stating, “I want people to just laugh and have fun. If we can make kids around the world laugh, then mission accomplished.”
Nintendo officially announced the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie during its September Direct presentation. The announcement followed the discovery of domains such as SuperMarioGalaxy-LaPelicula.com and SuperMarioGalaxy-LeFilm.com, which were registered by NBCUniversal and redirected to official Universal Pictures websites. Later during the January Direct presentation, the console maker confirmed that the film will release theatrically on April 1, 2026.
