Saber Interactive and Universal Pictures have shared an in-depth look at Jurassic Park: Survival through a new behind-the-scenes featurette, offering fresh details on the game’s narrative, design approach, and the creative process behind its dinosaur encounters. The upcoming single-player action-adventure survival title is set one day after the events of the original 1993 film and will place players in the role of Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist stranded on Isla Nublar.
The devs at Saber Interactive emphasized the importance of authenticity in adapting the landmark film into an interactive experience. Working closely with Amblin Entertainment and filmmakers, the team conducted extensive research, reviewing production archives, blueprints, and original props—including the iconic incubator and eggs—to ensure environmental and prop accuracy. Every level, location, and detail has been designed to faithfully represent the island while introducing new areas not shown in the film, such as unfinished facilities, attractions, and a hotel under construction.
Dinosaur encounters are at the heart of the gameplay, with Saber aiming to capture the weight, movement, and textures of each creature. The T-Rex and Velociraptors are set to feature prominently, with sequences inspired by iconic scenes, such as the kitchen stalker moment from the original movie. The developers stress that players will experience these moments firsthand, blending tension, awe, and survival.
Maya Joshi’s story arc will play a central role, with her character described as passionate, adventurous, and willing to take risks. She was personally recruited by Dr. Henry Wu to work at Jurassic Park before becoming trapped on the island. Voice actor Payal Mistry, who portrays Maya, noted her admiration for the character’s resilience and connection to strong female figures in cinema.
The project represents what the team calls a “huge responsibility,” with the goal of delivering a fresh yet familiar experience for fans. “We are taking the time to do it justice,” one developer explained, adding that the game is being built with respect for the film and the community that has supported the franchise for decades.
Jurassic Park: Survival is a canon entry in the franchise and is being developed for modern platforms by Saber Interactive. It was first announced on December 10, 2023, and will feature a single-player, narrative-driven survival experience that blends exploration, cinematic tension, and detailed recreations of Isla Nublar.
