Frontier Developments’ upcoming construction and management simulation game, Jurassic World Evolution 3, will no longer use generative AI for character portraits.

Upon the announcement of Jurassic World Evolution 3 in May, 2024, the game’s Steam store page listed a warning about its use of generative AI, specifically noting that it was used to create scientist portraits. This resulted in widespread backlash, with many fans expressing their frustration and urging developer Frontier Developments to reverse its decision to use generative AI or risk losing their support. Over a year later, after considerable push back, the studio has issued an official response on the matter.

A developer from the development team at Frontier Developments took to the Steam forums to announce that upon receiving feedback over its use of generative AI in Jurassic World Evolution 3, it has opted to remove AI generated scientist portraits from the game. The community instantly took note of this, thanking the developer and welcoming its decision.

For the uninitiated, Jurassic World Evolution 3 is scheduled for release on October 21, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. Like the earlier entries in the series, the game tasks players with designing and operating their own Jurassic World-inspired dinosaur park. It includes over 80 dinosaur species, with more than 70 featuring unique male, female, and juvenile versions. A major addition in this installment is an expanded set of park-building tools, enabling more detailed terrain customization and the placement of modular decorative elements. Players can also share their custom parks, buildings, and enclosures through the Frontier Workshop. The game includes sandbox and challenge modes, along with a campaign mode set in new regions such as Japan and Hawaii. Actor Jeff Goldblum returns to voice Dr. Ian Malcolm in the campaign.

Those who pre-order Jurassic World Evolution 3 can gain access to the “Badlands Set”, which includes items inspired by the dig site of the original Jurassic Park movie. Furthermore, the game’s Deluxe Edition grants access to four additional dinosaurs, namely Protoceratops, Guanlong, Thanatosdrakon, and Concavenator.
