Kadokawa Group has outlined its latest gaming segment performance in its Q3 FY2025 results while confirming multiple high-profile titles scheduled for 2026. The company stated that FromSoftware currently has several projects in development, including ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods, both slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Additionally, Spike Chunsoft plans to launch a new entry in the Danganronpa series in 2026.
For the April to December 2025 period, Kadokawa’s gaming segment recorded net sales of ¥23,381 million, down 11.6 percent year over year. Operating profit declined 7.0 percent to ¥8,050 million. In Q3 alone, covering October to December 2025, net sales fell 18.2 percent to ¥6,787 million, while operating profit decreased 46.3 percent to ¥1,388 million. Despite these declines, the segment maintained a strong operating margin on a year-to-date basis.
The company attributed much of the year-over-year decline to a difficult comparison with the prior fiscal year, which benefited from the release of ELDEN RING: Shadow of the Erdtree and strong repeat sales of the base game. In FY2025, ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN launched in May and performed strongly in both domestic and overseas markets. Its DLC followed in December and exceeded expectations. Even so, console and PC royalties declined 31.3 percent year over year, reflecting the outsized impact of the prior year’s expansion.
Quarterly copy sales across group companies show steady performance. In Q3 FY2025, 2.50 million copies were sold, marking the strongest quarter of the fiscal year and surpassing the same quarter of the previous year. Year-to-date category breakdown indicates royalties account for 37 percent of sales, though down significantly year over year, while new console and PC titles rose 16.9 percent and repeat sales increased 1.7 percent.
Looking ahead, Kadokawa confirmed that ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition and The Duskbloods are both targeting 2026 releases, with The Duskbloods positioned as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive sold jointly with Nintendo, depending on region. The company also disclosed that Spike Chunsoft will release a new Danganronpa series title in 2026.
