The free visual upgrade for the PC version of Capcom and NIS America’s action adventure game, Killer7, appears to have added AI upscaled cutscenes and textures.
Twitter/X user rikidensetsu has shared that the new killer7 PC update replaces the original FMV cutscenes with blurry and unstable AI upscaled cutscenes. They added that there are also reports of some in-game textures being upscaled in the same poor manner.

The Twitter/X user mentioned that some people believe Grasshopper Manufacture is behind this update for the PC version. However, that is not the case, and the studio has absolutely nothing to do with it. They pointed out that Engine Software developed the PC port of Killer7 and NIS America published it. Those who would like to see the game reverted back to its original state, they’ll need to raise their concern with the publisher i.e. NIS America.
In related news, during Grasshopper Direct 2024 on YouTube, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and Killer7 creator got into a conversation about the possibility of a sequel to the latter. Mikami hoped to someday have the opportunity to see a sequel. He added that what matters most is whether or not Suda 51 wants to make it. Suda 51 responded by saying that he may make a sequel or a Complete Edition someday. Mikami jokingly said that the idea of a Complete Edition was “kinda lame”. Suda 51 disagreed, saying that in the current version of Killer7, Coyote doesn’t really speak, but he was originally planned to have lots of dialogue. According to Suda 51, both a Complete Edition and a sequel to Killer7 are doable. He added that the development team will have to decide which comes first.
The visual upgrade for the PC version of Killer7 is certainly a far cry from what Suda 51 had envisioned for a potential Complete Edition.
