Masahiro Sakurai has hinted that more details on the upcoming Kirby Air Riders could be revealed in the near future. The update came as part of a message commemorating the 20th anniversary of Sora Ltd., the studio founded by Sakurai.

In his statement, Sakurai thanked fans for their continued support and noted that while the game has not yet been shown publicly, he believes information can be shared soon. This follows recent news that Kirby Air Riders was officially rated in Saudi Arabia, a development that often signals that a game is approaching the final stages of production.

Kirby Air Riders, announced earlier this year during a Nintendo Direct, is being developed by Bandai Namco Studios with Sakurai at the helm. It’s a sequel to the 2003 GameCube title Kirby Air Ride, aiming to update the original’s simple racing mechanics and multiplayer-focused gameplay. Fans are hoping for improvements that take full advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2 while keeping the series’ trademark simplicity and charm intact.

The Saudi Arabian rating points to steady progress, but it does not mean a release date will be announced anytime soon. In the past, games like Metroid Prime 4 and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment were rated months before their launch dates were revealed. Even so, Sakurai’s recent comments, combined with this new rating, have reignited excitement among Kirby fans eager to see the series return to the racetrack.
