Konami has confirmed that Vol 2 of its compilation series, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, is currently in development.
During the second episode of the Metal Gear Production Hotline on Konami’s YouTube channel, series producer Noriaki Okamura confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 2 is currently in development. However, he added that he is unable to share what titles will be included in the second compilation title.
Okamura mentioned that most of the titles released after Metal Gear Solid 3 don’t have a pre-existing HD port that the development team could use. Some are already in HD, but those are all really big titles, and that comes with its own set of issues. With these factors taken under consideration, he said that any questions along the lines of “what’s in it?” or “how long will it be in development, when’ll it be out…” are going to be difficult to answer at this time. According to him, it’ll be a while until the development team can get a clear picture, but when they do, they’ll let the fans know during a future episode.
The Metal Gear Solid producer clarified that, as the original compilation title was called Vol 1, the development team is certainly making a Vol 2. However, he highlighted how Vol 1 had a pretty rough launch, with all its technical issues. Therefore, he said that the development team will do everything it can to not repeat prior mistakes. As such, he asked fans to give the team some more time. He joked about how people in the video comments are likely already criticizing the development team for not being able to share anything noteworthy with regards to Vol 2. To that, he said that even if the team can’t share much at the moment, it still wants to check in with everyone. Okamura feels that this is sort of what he wants the Production Hotline series to be.
