Konami Plans Post-TGS2025 Survey to Ask Fans Which Metal Gear Solid Should Be Remade Next

Konami is preparing to launch a new survey (via) following its upcoming Metal Gear Production Hotline broadcast at Tokyo Game Show 2025, where fans will be asked which entry in the Metal Gear Solid series they would most like to see remade next. The broadcast is scheduled to air on September 25, with the survey running until October 9. At this stage, it appears to be limited to Japanese audiences.

The Metal Gear Production Hotline is a series of developer presentations that provide updates on the franchise. Earlier episodes covered the development of Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater, and the latest entry will spotlight the new FOXHUNT mode. This multiplayer feature places players in the role of a cadet seeking to earn selection into the FOX Unit, adding a narrative-driven component to the online experience. The stream is also expected to include details about performance-related patches and the future roadmap for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater.

The most eye-catching detail, however, is the forthcoming survey. While it includes general questions about fan expectations and preferences for future updates, the final and perhaps most important question will ask which Metal Gear Solid title players would like to see remade. This could signal a new direction for the franchise, with Konami seeking direct community feedback to guide its next steps.

The move follows a growing interest in the series’ preservation. Earlier this year, during a roundtable interview attended by journalist Destin Legarie, Konami producers Noriaki Okamura and Yuji Korekado addressed the possibility of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots making a return. Although no firm commitment was made, Okamura noted, “We naturally understand that everyone wants to play it – it’s a game that currently can’t be played. In future Metal Gear developments, we hope we can prepare an opportunity for everyone to play 4, for current people to have a chance to play it. We can’t specifically talk about when that will be here yet, but…”

A translator further added, “We do want to add some point that fans have chance to play it again. Unfortunately, we can’t give you any more details about that, but yeah, we hope in the future is something we can do.”

This latest initiative, blending community engagement with ongoing development updates, suggests Konami is working to adapt its approach to better align with fan expectations. While the survey is initially regional, its results may have a significant influence on the future of the series.
