Larian Studios Announces New RPG Divinity at The Game Awards 2025

by Greg Martin

Larian Studios announced its next major role-playing game, titled Divinity, during The Game Awards 2025. The studio confirmed that the project is set in the world of Rivellon, the setting featured in earlier Divinity titles, though it emphasized that prior familiarity with the franchise will not be required to understand or play the new release. A debut trailer premiered during the event, providing the first public look at the project.

According to Larian, Divinity represents the studio’s largest production effort so far. The company stated that the title is being developed by the same team that led Baldur’s Gate 3, which received widespread recognition for its narrative structure and systemic design. However, the studio has not yet released information regarding gameplay features, platform availability, release timing, or specific narrative arcs referenced in the promotional teaser.

In a statement included with the announcement, Larian founder and game director Swen Vincke said the project reflects the culmination of the studios work within the Divinity universe. Vincke noted that while this title shares its world with earlier entries such as Divinity Original Sin and Divinity Original Sin 2, it is the first game by the studio to carry the straightforward title Divinity. He added that players familiar with the earlier series may recognize thematic or narrative connections, though details on continuity were not provided.

Larian described the game as having a broader scope and deeper systems than its previous projects. The studio has presented this project as a new entry point for newcomers while continuing its longstanding work within the Rivellon universe.

More details about Divinity, including gameplay demonstrations, platform specifics, and release windows, are expected in future updates from Larian.
